- m = male
- k = female
- !! = unspecified
For living situation
- b = resident
- mt = temporarily resident
- f = absent
For family roles
- hf = man of the house
- hm = woman of the house
- hp = main person
- hu = housewife
- s = son
- d = daughter
- tj = servant
- fl = lodger
- el = solitary lodger
- b = visitor
For civil status
- ug = unmarried
- g = married
- e = widow
- s = separated
- f = divorced
For illness related
- b = blind
- d = deaf/dumb
- s = psychiatric illness
- a = mentally challenged
For citizenship and ethnicity
- n = norsk
- l = lapp
- lf = lapp, permanent resident
